Free Books

So today I have a few items I want to give a shout out to that provided me with joy.

First off, lets talk about Coconut Tips

I went to the health food store with my family, and these little guys jumped out at me. For one thing they are not healthy in the slightest bit. For a second thing I do not care because they are caramel and coconut wrapped into one beautiful little candy. Coconut is something you either love or hate. So for those of us who love it, these little boogers are the jack pot. They are not crunchy, they are not gooey, they are the perfect blend or soft and firm. They make your mouth water and your cavities zing. I had a couple of these and some orange juice once I got home from work and oh boy was I full of joy.

Second things second, lets talk about this adorable diary/journal type book I purchased from Barnes and Noble.

This is the Q&A a day 5 year journal. It's so sweet. The pages are edged in gold color and it is quite small but very thick. This little cutie will stay with you for 5 years. What do you do with it you ask? You open it to the date of the current day and it asks you a question and gives you a space to write the year and your answer to the question. The questions it asks are along the lines of "What is your biggest obstacle?" So in two or five years you can look back and see where you were versus where you are now. I love this! It's a great idea, everyday you can see how you felt by how you answered your question. So far I have answered two questions, so I have had it for two days. I love holding it, it makes me happy to write in it and in some small way, it provides me with structure and consistency!

Third things third! FREE BOOK FREE BOOK FREE BOOK!!!

So you see the book above, Poststructuralism and After, doesn't seem like a easy read bought for entertainment. Well that's because it wasn't!! I bought the Q & A book and this one was put in my box from Barnes and Noble for free! Or by accident. Regardless I got this neat book. Maybe this is the universes way of telling me to expand my knowledge? Maybe when I read this book I will realize my destiny and my passion for poststructuralism. Or maybe not. Regardless free things rock and this is giving me so much joy! I do enjoy learning and this is a subject I have never heard of, so we shall see where this goes.

Today my joy has sprouted from tangible objects, things that can be replaced, things I don't need. And sometimes, that's okay and it also isn't always true. Joy comes from all places and all spaces. Open your eyes to see it, and appreciate that it exists. <3

My Day Off

Today, I have a day off and I am stuck with the decision of how to best spend my day.

Now as a person with an excessive amount of hobbies, this is very troubling. I am someone who starts approximately twelve projects at a time and I have to decide which project will provide me with the most joy and the most entertainment. Today I chose crocheting. Oh do I love crocheting! I have started a blanket that must be made one square at a time. If I want a full sized blanket then I need to make A LOT of squares. That is no problem, except for my very short attention span. I finish a square, then I become distracted! Today I set a goal of 3 squares. Must make 3 squares! Well you should be glad to hear that I accomplished this goal and now I am on the hunt for something else to do.

Hey, I found a box of girl scout cookies and a movie I haven't seen in awhile! *sighs* I think I will start crocheting again in a little while. Oh the joy of a day off. There is nothing better then working a full time job, accomplishing a hard days work, and knowing that when you get home you wont have to get up until your body darn well pleases the next morning. Oh and I did just this. I got home at 9:30 pm and had some ginger tea. Slipped into bed with my Fiance and slept until 9 am the next day. What a restful night. As soon as I wake up my Fiance says "what are your plans for today?" Well...Uh...I'll absolutely be taking a shower at some point, other then that I have no clue. This is what started my train of thoughts around what the heck am I going to do today?

All I know is that you ought to always choose something that will provide you with joy. Oh I don't mean to avoid chores, but don't smother yourself with unpleasant things or people. You must have at least one dose of joy a day. Bad day at work? Eat a cookie! On a diet? Put a little extra honey in your tea. Don't forget that even when experiencing unpleasantness, something joyful is happening around you that you have not noticed. Take a moment, and find that joy.
